If their refusal is because there is not a financial need for the gift, kindly explain that Angel Tree exists to allow the parent(al figure) in prison to communicate their love to their children by personally providing them with gifts. The Angel Tree program is not based on financial need. Should they still decide not to participate, thank them for their time, let them know that your church is available, and leave church contact information. This should then be recorded in the Angel Tree app by following the steps provided in the article, “I am unable to serve/can’t get in contact with a family”.
It would be a thoughtful gesture if you write to the incarcerated individual advising the parent or guardian has chosen not to participate.
